Some of the birds found here include the white ibis, wood stork, roseate spoonbill, green backed heron and many more colorful water fowl.
Our tour begins with an 1 hour and 45 minute drive that takes you 4 kilometers from the Nicaraguan border. At the town of Caño Negro, we will board a boat that will take you through the wetlands and lagoons. Our tour is comprehensive and leads you right into the interior of the wildlife refuge, in contrast to most tours of the area which lower the expense of their trips by only leading their excursion along the Rio Frio and not into the reserve itself.

The Rio Celeste is far from your ordinary aqueous landscape. The nearly opaque waters of the Celeste river are a surreal shade of bright aquamarine blue. This startling color is created by a chemical reaction cause by the fusion of calcium carbonate and sulfur released from the Tenorio Volcano. This natural wonder is largely undiscovered by tourism and is an experience worth boasting about.
The trip begins with a hour and thirty minute drive to the location. Our tour of the Rio Celeste consists of a scenic 4 mile looped rainforest hike led by a knowledgeable local guide who can point out unique wildlife and highlights of the natural environment. The trail goes through Tenorio Volcano National Park, which is home to wildlife such as tapirs, collared peccaries, birds, several species of monkeys and wild felines. Along the trail we will observe "Los Teñideros”, where the river obtains its sapphire pigmentation. Then the hike will take us to the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall, a cerulean swimming hole, and hot springs.

There are so few experiences that produces as much adrenaline in the body as Canopy does. Crossing through the tree's crowns held by a harness that hangs of a cable causes in the body a feeling hard to describe with words, but that provides to the lovers of adventure activities a great experience.
Besides the emotion that canopy generates, the possibility of being between the tree's crown's top and to move among them, allows to observe nature from another perspective.
It is always smart to follow the advice of assigned guides, for enjoying this activity in a responsible and safe way.. |
